POJI's Landkrabban lifting device simplifies module handling at ports, improving both safety and efficiency.

Handling housing modules in a port was previously both complicated and dangerous. You couldn't receive modules stacked on top of each other. The lifting chains needed to be manually coupled and climbing around on slippery plastic-wrapped modules created major workplace environment risks.

Reduced workplace environment risks

Moreover the handling was expensive since goods that cannot be stacked take up a lot of space in the port.

"With Landkrabban the workplace environment risks decreased and we could suddenly unload at greater heights without sending people up. It made it possible to stack the modules on top of each other on the port area," says Robert Tingvall, former CEO of Södertälje Harbour, which annually handles 30,000 TEU containers and several hundred housing modules.

Lifts housing modules faster and more easily

Landkrabban is a lifting device that makes it easier, faster and safer to lift housing modules on and off boats and lorries.

"The handling is simple since we can attach Landkrabban to forklifts and cranes in the existing fleet of machines. It became a standardised working method, where the port workers can continue to work in the same way they are used to," says Robert Tingvall.

Right now POJI is working on a further development of Landkrabban that will become even faster and easier to work with.
